Nyungwe National Park in April: Rainforest Beauty and Wildlife

Nyungwe National Park in April – The old has gone, and the new has come. April sets in with an angelic version, marking the end of the wet season as it showcases the park’s lush greenery, magnificent wildflowers, and glittering, bubbling waterfalls that flow loudly within the jungle, attracting the attention of beautifully colored birds.

It’s never dawn until the kings say so; lions are ever on guard, waiting for simple giraffes, reptiles, buffaloes, and elephants.

However, killing a giant elephant brings them more pain than satisfaction, as a pride often leaves when some members are dead or seriously injured.

According to research, it is always the females that hunt to feed their young ones, who are hidden to protect them from being killed by the males. Observing such fascinating wildlife behavior is one of the highlights of Rwanda safaris.

Some visitors may prefer game drives due to the weather and the muddy ground. The safari cars are very comfortable, equipped with mini-refrigerators filled with drinks and free Wi-Fi for customers.

The journey may begin in the morning if you have booked day drives, or at night for those who wish to view animals hunting under the shining sky and twinkling stars. April is characterized by the following:

  • Frequent rain showers: make sure to bring waterproof clothes and blankets that provide enough warmth.
  • High humidity as the wet season continues.
  • Warm temperatures ranging from 20°C to 28°C.

The means of transport to the park may be challenging due to the muddy ground, but buses or cars will manage.

If you want to avoid the jam, domestic flights are available for a luxury safari, allowing you to enjoy panoramic views.

Note that drones are not allowed in primate and bird areas, as they are very sensitive.

Feeding other species is also prohibited, as it disturbs their ecosystem and can make them lazy, leading to starvation and death.

These rules are clearly communicated upon entering the park at the reception, so ensure to follow them.

Some camping sites are located near the entrance and offer comfortable services, so be sure to book in advance for the best experience.

Other accommodations around Nyungwe include One&Only Nyungwe House, which offers a calm and delightful environment with free parking, Wi-Fi, double and single rooms, balconies, an infinity swimming pool, and a bar for those who wish to indulge.
