Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park – Canopy Walk
Depart from your hotel in Kigali early in the morning and set off southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park on a 5-6 hour drive.
You will have lunch en route and then proceed to the park.
In the afternoon, you will arrive at the park and take on your first activity of the 2-day tour, a canopy walk above the lush green Nyungwe Forest.
Take the Igishigishigi Trail to the canopy walkway.
Enjoy the sights and sounds, and then drive to your safari lodge for check-in and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Departure
Rise early in the morning and drive to Uwinka at the park’s visitor center.
Receive a briefing, and then venture into Nyungwe Forest to trek the chimpanzees.
The activity starts very early in the morning, around 6:00 am, to increase your chances of seeing the semi-habituated primates.
Enjoy the forest environment as you walk through to the chimpanzees, which will notify you of their location with their loud vocalizations.
Spend about an hour observing them, then return to Uwinka and drive back to your lodge for check-out.
Transfer back to Kigali with lunch en route and a brief stopover to check out the Nyanza King’s Palace.
Drop off back at your hotel in Kigali.
