Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: City Tour – Nyungwe Forest National Park
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will go on a 2-hour tour of Kigali city, visiting places like the Inema Art Center, the Genocide Memorial, and other points of interest.
After the city tour, drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park with a stopover in Huye for a delicious lunch.
In the early evening, you will arrive at your lodge in Nyungwe, check in for dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 2: Colobus Monkey Trekking and Canopy Walk
Black and white colobus monkeys are an interesting primate species, one of the 12 species that call the forest home.
You will go on your colobus monkey trekking early in the morning after a briefing. Led by an experienced ranger guide, you will start your trek.
Spend an hour with the colobus monkeys, take pictures, and watch them go about their day. Return from the forest and drive back to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for the rewarding canopy walk over the treetops of the forest, enjoying the panoramic views.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking
Today you trek one of the most famous primate species in Nyungwe Forest National Park, the highlight of any tour to this forested park.
Your day starts early with breakfast, then a drive to the park offices for a briefing. Afterward, go into the forest for a rewarding chimpanzee trekking experience.
Keep your camera on standby and be on the lookout, as you might spot other primate species and beautiful birds during your trek. Just like with the colobus monkeys, you will spend an hour with the chimpanzees, then return from the forest.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 4: End of Safari – Kigali
Today marks the end of your chimpanzee, colobus monkey, and canopy walk safari in Nyungwe Forest. Transfer back to Kigali.
