Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
The tour driver-guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and take you on a tour around Kigali city.
Visit places like the Kandt House Museum, Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, Inema Art Center, Kimironko Market, and others.
After the city tour, have lunch and then drive to your safari lodge in Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
After your early breakfast, you will drive to the headquarters of Nyungwe Forest National Park for a briefing before you enter the forest.
Follow the ranger guide into the forest to start your chimpanzee trekking experience.
The chimpanzees in Nyungwe are not fully habituated, so follow your guide’s guidelines for a rewarding and exciting experience.
After the chimpanzee experience, you will go for a canopy walk, experiencing the forest from a whole different angle, above its treetops. Call it a day and drive back to your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be up early, have your breakfast, and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park in the northern part of Rwanda.
In about 6-7 hours, you will be at your lodge, where you will spend the next two nights.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Start off the day with a drive to the park headquarters after an early breakfast for a briefing and then head into the forest to start your thrilling gorilla trekking experience.
Gorilla trekking gets you into close proximity with the gentle giants, the endangered mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park.
Experience the rest of the park while on your trek, look out for birds and a lucky sight of the endangered golden monkeys.
Spend 1 hour with the gorillas, then return to the offices and drive back to your lodge for lunch.
Have the rest of the day to yourself or go on a guided cultural tour.
Day 5: Back to Kigali
Your safari ends with a transfer back to Kigali.
